FLOW

Gints Zilbalodis · 2024 · Latvia, France · ANI · 84’

The world seems to be on the verge of an end, marked by the traces left by human presence. A cat, solitary by nature, sees his home destroyed by a catastrophic flood. He finds refuge on a boat inhabited by different species, with whom he will have to co-operate, despite their differences. On this drifting boat, sailing through mystical and flooded landscapes, the animals will have to face the challenges and dangers of adapting to a new world. From the director of Away, Gints Zibalodis brings a silent reflection starring endearing animals and reveals that survival in a changing world depends on unity and collaboration, even among the most unlikely allies.

Gints Zilbalodis’ feature film has achieved significant recognition in the film industry, winning the prestigious Oscar® for Best Animated Film at the 97th Academy Awards®. The film premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival, where it garnered critical acclaim. Additionally, it was honored at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, the largest animation festival worldwide, where it won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Film, impressing both the audience and the jury.
