The children's section Curtinhas do Curtas Vila do Conde – International Film Festival offers a series of activities for children and families in the form of fun workshops.
These didactic activities, which this year will revolve around the theme of “Intergalactic Journey,” will allow children to explore their creativity and discover new forms of expression and play.
SKY WATCHING WITH THE NAKED EYE [Registrations]
— The night is essential!
Sat · 12 Jul · 9:45 PM | Parking Lot
Every night, above our heads, we have a beautiful ever-changing firmament: the sky's landscape is different every hour. In this session, guided by Martin Pawley (film critic and Astronomy enthusiast), we will learn to recognize with the naked eye the brightest stars and discover the patterns they form, as well as how to orient ourselves using the North Star. We will also understand that night is essential for the animals and plants with whom we share the planet.
WORKSHOPS [Registrations]
— Little Monsters from Planet Emotion: collage workshop
Sun · 13 Jul · 4:30 PM | Kid's Area · 2nd Floor
What if emotions came from another planet? In this collage workshop, each child will imagine and create their own intergalactic little monster — a creature from a distant galaxy where feelings take on shape, color, and even antennae! Through cutouts, colors, and textures, we’ll explore what we feel and bring to life unique monsters that represent emotions like joy, curiosity, fear, or courage. A journey where no one feels the same, but everyone can create freely.
— Voyage to space: Drawing a story on fila
Sat · 19 Jul · 3 PM | Kid's Area · 2nd Floor
In this workshop, we embark on a cosmic journey. On 16mm film, we’ll draw a voyage through space: undiscovered planets, floating creatures, black holes, and stars. In the end, we’ll project the drawings and play with shadows and synthesizers to bring this universe to life.
— Artists of the Sun - Cyanotype Workshop
Sun · 20 Jul · 11 AM | Outdoors · Bobbin Lace Museum Garden
A creative workshop where children explore the magic of cyanotype, painting with the sun to reveal images in shades of blue. The activity combines science and art, stimulating curiosity and creativity in a fun and educational environment.
