Atividades Didáticas
London-based artist and writer Morgan Quaintance has prepared a "White Letter" for the 32nd Curtas Vila do Conde, centered on the theme of affection. Morgan intends to evoke a spectrum of emotions in his audience, from boredom to more intense feelings, addressing issues related to masculinity, race, capitalism and power. Some feature films, such as "All Divided Selves" (2011), by Luke Fowler, and "The Scent of Green Papaya" (1993), by Tran Anh Hung; as well as short films, such as "Revolve" (1977), by Nancy Holt, and "Efforts of Nature IV", are part of this film program. The director wants the program and the exhibition to resonate emotionally with the audience, stimulating engaging discussions.
Program
Adapted from novelist Haruki Murakami's novel of the same name, "Norwegian Wood" is a moving painting of saturated colors and shrewd compositions, set in Tokyo during the globally troubled period of the late 1960s. This is an achingly tender love(es) story that traverses a young university student's encounters with infidelity, mental illness, loss, guilt and tragic longing.
